Hear and Say is a Queensland wide provider of speech pathology and audiology services. We operate state-wide and support people of all ages - from newborn babies, to toddlers, school-age children, and adults.

An exceptional opportunity currently exists for a motivated individual to join us in our Sunshine Coast (Nambour) clinic, in the role of Allied Health Assistant. This is a part time role of up to 15.2 hours per week, and the successful candidate must be available on every second Thursday mornings during school term to run our Playgroup sessions.

Reporting to the Speech Pathologist and Listening and Spoken Language Specialist and relevant Team Leader, this role is responsible for planning and delivering our fortnightly Playgroup program along with supporting the administration and delivery of clinical services whilst under the guidance of qualified clinicians.

Key accountabilities in this role may includes

Using structured session plans facilitate group learning experiences such as story time or music sessions, creating an engaging learning environment where children can meet their individual goals with a focus on family support and term-by-term goal planning.

Facilitate the management and maintain the quality of playgroup facilities, resources, and equipment, ensuring a clean and organised environment and the smooth running of each session.

Lead and supervisor volunteers and students, guiding volunteers, students, families and participants through emergency evacuation procedures and communicating upcoming events to families.

Clinical room and storage room preparation, cleaning and organisation, along with the development of clinical resources for clinical appointments.

Conduct LSL/SP therapy sessions, under delegation from a Speech Pathologist or Listening and Spoken Language Specialist.

Participate in Visual Reinforcement Audiometry as the ‘distractor’ responsible for assisting the lead audiologist with establishing an optimal test state for the child.

Regular meetings with supervisor regarding client progress and planning lesson plans to meet family goals.

Administrative support including maintaining/updating clinical documents and notes for client sessions, assisting with reports, and updates to clinical CRM and databases.

The ideal candidate must have a passion for building bonds with the children, families, and staff to ensure the best outcomes are met through planning and implementing experiences while working as a team. Previous experience in a similar role is essential, and a diploma in Children’s Services, Cert 4 in Allied Health Assistant and/or studying Speech Pathologist and/or Audiology is highly desirable.

You will demonstrate a commitment to achieving good outcomes, a good understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), and/or a strong understanding of paediatric hearing impairment and the Auditory-Verbal Therapy (AVT) method.

Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement management skills, coupled with meticulous attention to detail, good time management, organisational and administrative skills. The ability to thrive in a busy and dynamic work environment will also see you succeeding in this role.

You will also be able to meet the following mandatory requirements of the role:

Eligibility to clear probity checks including disability worker screening (Yellow Card) and a working with children check (Blue Card).
