Catholic Schools NSW (CSNSW) is the peak representative body, and system authority, for Catholic schools in NSW. The CSSA is a division of CSNSW, and the distribution of CSSA Trial HSC Examinations form part of the remit of CSNSW.
As the approved registration system authority for diocesan Catholic schools, CSNSW is responsible for monitoring the compliance of the system’s member schools in accordance with the school registration and accreditation requirements of the Education Act 1990 (‘the Act’) and as prescribed by NESA in the NESA Registration and Accreditation Manual for systemic schools (‘the Manual’). Ensuring compliance with the school registration and accreditation requirements of the Act and the Manual remains the responsibility of the respective school proprietors, dioceses and the member schools.
Primary Purpose of the role
The Assessment Officer is responsible for supporting the administration and operations of assessment including the CSSA, a division of CSNSW. The CSSA is the premium provider of paper and online CSSA Trial HSC Examinations and state-wide symposiums.
This is a full-time permanent position with a requirement to work from the CSNSW office located in Sydney’s CBD.
Key responsibilities
Assessment Operations
· Provide general administration to support CSSA operations including delivery of Trial HSC exams, symposiums, and other CSNSW events.
· Provide subject matter expertise on all copyright matters relating to Trial HSC Exams to ensure compliance to all copyright regulations and requirements.
· Seek, negotiate and finalise copyright permission for publishing both print and digital assessments.
· Maintain an up-to-date Copyright Register.
· Provide subject matter expertise on HSC Disability Provisions.
· Assist in the preparation of CSSA Disability Provisions with relevant schools and external stakeholders.
· Desktop editing and proofreading exams
· Ensure adherence to CSNSW’s contractual obligations.
· Ad hoc duties as requested by the Senior Manager, CSSA Exams and others as relevant.
Essential Requirements
· Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection
(Working with Children) Act 2012.
· Relevant qualifications/experience within a school or educational setting ie, teaching, copyright, editing or publishing.
· At least 3-5 years in a similar role, or within a school or system education environment.
· Empathy with and support for the mission, ethos and beliefs of Catholic schools and the
communities they serve.
· Attention to detail.
· Demonstrated experience in Copyright.
· Advanced skills in desktop editing and proofreading.
· Advanced skills in using Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and cloud-based services including One Drive and Teams, with a willingness to learn additional platforms as required.
· Advanced skills in using Adobe Acrobat.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· The ability to work well with others and be flexible and open to change.
· Demonstrated experienced in administration.
· Commitment to maintaining high level service to stakeholders, ensuring privacy, confidentiality and dealing respectfully with all information related to the CSSA.
· Highly developed organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting timeframes.
· Highly developed interpersonal skills for effective and timely communication in CSSA operations and across CSNSW.
