Identified Position – Support Worker – Walumarra Strong Families Program
Bunmabunmarra Services | Dubbo, Western NSW Region
Fixed-term until 30 June 2026 with opportunity for extension
35 hours per week | Outreach to Wellington, Nyngan, Coonamble, Coonabarabran, Mudgee, Parkes and Forbes

About the Role
Bunmabunmarra Services is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our Walumarra Strong Families Program, part of the Escaping Violence Payment Regional Expansion initiative.
This program provides culturally responsive, wrap-around support to Aboriginal victims/survivors of domestic and family violence across Dubbo and the Far West region.
As a Support Worker, you’ll walk alongside individuals and families, providing hands-on assistance, emotional support, and connection to services in a way that is grounded in cultural safety, respect, and strength.
Key Responsibilities
Build culturally safe, respectful, and empowering relationships with Aboriginal individuals and families.
Provide short-term, strengths-based support including outreach, practical assistance, transport, and emotional support.
Assist with intake and eligibility assessments, and safety planning alongside the Case Manager.
Support clients in accessing services such as housing, healthcare, legal aid, counselling, and financial support.
Liaise with key referral partners including DCJ, Legal Services, NSW Health, Corrective Services, and community-based organisations.
Keep accurate records and contribute to ongoing program development and improvement.
About You
You’re community-minded, grounded in culture, and passionate about walking alongside mob with care, strength, and respect.
You will ideally have:
Experience in community support, advocacy, or similar roles.
Understanding of the impacts of domestic and family violence, and intergenerational trauma on Aboriginal people.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work within a team, follow client support plans, and respond flexibly to client needs.
Knowledge of local Aboriginal communities and services across Western NSW.
A current NSW Driver’s Licence, National Police Clearance, and Working with Children Check.
A Certificate III or IV in Community Services or willingness to obtain one (desirable but not essential).
