Job Summary:
Sunshine Coast Wellness is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Exercise Physiologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of human physiology, exercise science, and health promotion. As an Exercise Physiologist, you will be responsible for assessing clients’ physical fitness, designing and implementing personalised exercise programs, and providing guidance to improve overall health and wellness. This role requires a passion for promoting physical activity and a commitment to helping individuals achieve their fitness goals safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive fitness assessments, including evaluating cardiovascular fitness, strength, flexibility, and body composition.
Develop individualised exercise programs tailored to clients’ needs, goals, and health conditions.
Provide guidance on safe and effective exercise techniques to ensure proper form and prevent injury.
Monitor clients’ progress and make necessary adjustments to exercise plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
Educate clients on lifestyle modifications, nutrition, and other health-related behaviours that complement exercise programs.
Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including physicians and physical therapists, to coordinate client care.
Provide support and motivation to clients, helping them stay on track and achieve their fitness goals.
Maintain accurate records of client assessments, progress, and exercise plans.
Stay current with the latest research, trends, and best practices in exercise physiology and health promotion.
Promote health and wellness programs within the community through workshops or outreach efforts.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology
Certification from ESSA
Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.
Experience working with individuals with sport performance, chronic conditions, disabilities, or special health concerns is preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in an easily understandable way.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
CPR and First Aid certification.
Preferred Skills:
Experience working in a clinical or rehabilitation setting.
Familiarity with exercise equipment and technology (e.g., heart rate monitors, fitness trackers).
Previous experience working with diverse populations and varying fitness levels.
