The Team:

The Mental Health Inpatient Unit (MHIU) is located in the Royal Hobart Hospital, level 2 and 3K West. MHIU sits under the Mental Health Department (MHD) within the Statewide Mental Health Services' Acute Care Stream and supports adults with serious mental illness across multiple locations, serving southern Tasmania and those best suited to its services.

The Role:

As part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Occupational Therapist will undertake the delivery of quality care to clients of the Child and Adolescent, Adult Community, Inpatient and Extended Treatment and Older Persons Mental Health Service based on best practice principles and within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.

Duties:

  • Ensure the delivery of a comprehensive clinical service through relevant assessment, case management, and individual therapies including specialised therapies for clients and their families or carers.
  • Provision of evidence-based assessment and treatment interventions for clients with major and complex mental health including the development and implementation of specialised treatment programs.
  • Function as an active member of a multidisciplinary team including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022.
  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
  • You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Occupational Board of Australia

Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia

It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
