The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the South-East Qld.

About the role
As the Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) Practitioner, you will play a key role in developing and implementing services and programs aimed at reducing violence within the community. This will require you to apply evidence-based approaches to deliver culturally appropriate interventions to creating lasting positive change. You work will include the development of programs for perpetrators, increasing capacity for staff working with families impacted by FDV, and identification of funding streams to expand ongoing specialist FDV services.
Within this role, you will be required to:
- Provide a domestic and family violence lens and direction to FWS practitioners on case work, particularly for families with multiple, complex presenting issues across child, parent and family domains
- Contribute to the development, implementation and ongoing support of a domestic and family violence procedures that ensures appropriate assessment, pathways of care and responses to FDV
- Provide consultation and education for multidisciplinary teams that are supporting families and individuals affected by family violence
- Liaise with legal team to enhance access to legal services for families experiencing FDV.
- Collaborate with external specialist family violence services including the High-Risk Team where necessary
- Support the FWS to develop a stronger practice model and processes for managing FDV referrals.
- Collaborate in the ongoing development and integration of all service delivery providers within MATSICHS and ensure Family Services delivers within the IUIH Model of Care
- Other duties consistent with the position where required and/or requested by your Manager.
About you
- Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
- Current Criminal History Check
- Current Working with Children Clearence (QLD Blue Card) – required prior to your commencement
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, or a genuine interest in expanding your skills, knowledge and capability to work in our sector.
