About the role
The Illegal Dumping Officer is responsible for actively managing illegal dumping activities. This role involves a proactive approach to identifying, investigating, and addressing instances of illegal dumping. The primary focus is on minimising and preventing such activities through various strategies, including community education, enforcement of regulations, and collaboration with other stakeholders. The officer also works to raise public awareness about the environmental and legal consequences of illegal dumping, aiming to foster a community-wide commitment to proper waste disposal practices and Council's waste services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively enforce the provisions of legislation used by City of Parramatta, adopted policies/ codes and regulations in a fair, just and equitable matter.
- Competently investigate and prepare sound and precise briefs of evidence for submission, consideration and approval by Council management.
- Represent City of Parramatta by attending court to give associated evidence.
- Monitor and manage allocated and self-generated Service requests (CRM) for the LGA.
- Participate in the implementation of projects, strategies, policies, guidelines and procedures that align with Council's waste and cleansing strategic direction.
- Undertake illegal dumping data management and reporting.
About You
You will bring the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Regulatory Services/ Investigations or related discipline.
- Current NSW Drivers License
- Demonstrated experience in Local Government Regulatory Enforcement or extensive experience in a role with Regulatory or Law Enforcement Sector.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in investigations, conducting interviews and preparing briefs of evidence at court.
- Experience in project and resource management.
- Ability to lead, develop and manage projects that may be strategic, complex and diverse.
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills including report writing and strong computer literacy.
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

We are offering an attractive remuneration from $ 85,293 to $93,952 plus 11.5% superannuation.
