Clinical Advisor – Goulburn Mental Health Hub

Are you passionate a mental health professional looking to make a real impact? We are seeking a Clinical Advisor to join our Goulburn Mental Health Hub, providing expert guidance, clinical oversight, and support to our team delivery essential mental health services to the community.

About the Role

A Clinical Advisor is a registered allied health professional, such as a Psychologist, Mental Health Nurse, Mental Health Occupational Therapist, Aboriginal Health Worker (AHPRA Registered), Social Worker (AASW registered), or Counsellor, responsible for providing high-quality health and wellbeing services to individuals, families, and communities. This role may encompass various service delivery responsibilities including but not limited to psychology, psychological therapies and counselling; psychometric testing and assessment; brief interventions; intake assessment; and group therapies. Service delivery may include both in-person and telehealth supports, with consumers across the lifespan accessing the Goulburn Mental Health Program (GMHH). Additionally, the Clinical Advisor provides advanced clinical expertise, leadership, and support in mental health services. Providing clinical oversight for the GMHH, serving as the primary point of contact for clinical escalations. In the absence of the Program Manager, the Clinical Advisor will assume responsibility for overseeing site operations at GMHH. Relocation assistance will be considered for the successful applicant.

Role Responsibilities:

Clinical Expertise: A strong background in mental health and counselling. Demonstrates proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic interventions and stays updated on the latest developments and research in mental health.

Strategic -Planning: Develop strategic plans for the mental health service, aligning organizational goals with community needs. Identify areas for growth and improvement and implement strategies to achieve long-term objectives.

Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensures that the team adheres to all relevant policies, regulations, and ethical standards and Monitors and evaluates the quality of mental health services provided.

Team Leadership: Supports the professional development of team members through training and mentorship. Recognizes and acknowledges the achievements and contributions of team members and Encourages a collaborative and inclusive team environment.

What we’re looking for:

Essential criteria

Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA), or Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

Current Working with Children Check number and valid Police Check.

A minimum 5 years’ (FTE) clinical experience working with a variety of mental health presentations across the lifespan.

Excellent knowledge of evidence-based and trauma informed practice.

Strong interpersonal skills to support a team of clinicians and undertake proactive liaison with relevant stakeholders.

High level organisational skills, including an ability to undertake a range of diverse tasks and manage competing deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated experience working within a multidisciplinary team.

Demonstrated capacity to implement principles of reflective practice and self-care within a team.

Demonstrated experience in developing new service models and/or growing services, including contributing to applications for funding.

Demonstrated experience in project management and health service evaluation.

Desirable criteria

Approved supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia, or clinical supervision experience if holding other forms of allied health registration.

Experience delivering services via telehealth.

Current unrestricted Driver's Licence and willingness to travel as part of this role.
