The Supreme Court of Victoria is the highest court in Victoria and comprises the Court of Appeal and the Trial Division. The Court deals with major criminal and civil matters, plus appeals against decisions of lower courts.

The Supreme Court of Victoria recognises that its people are integral to its ability to meet and exceed community expectations and to achieve its goal of being an outstanding superior court. We continually strive to create a high-performance workplace that is characterized by creativity, innovation, flexibility, and quality delivery.

The Supreme Court Library is the library of the Supreme Court of Victoria. It is a unified library supporting all jurisdictions in Victoria, as well as barristers and solicitors, who as members of the Victorian legal profession have access as of right.

The library operates under the name of the Law Library of Victoria, and is established under the Supreme Court Library Rules 2024 (‘Rules'). It is governed by a committee of judicial officers and legal practitioners appointed under the Rules. The judicial officers on the Library Committee come from the Supreme Court, County Court, Magistrates Court and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. The legal practitioners on the Library Committee come from the Victorian Bar and the Law Institute of Victoria.

The Law Library Victoria website provides access to authoritative legal information for Judicial Officers and staff from all courts, tribunals, and departments within Court Services Victoria.
