Support Worker

Posted 20 days ago
I am a young woman in my mid 20’s living independently with support in my own home. I am a very independent and autonomous woman but need support and guidance with my safety and hazard perception, some household and daily living activities, and going out in the community.
I have a keen interest in dance, gym, volunteering in my community, socialising and spending meaningful time with my family. My leisure activities really do depend on the day; however, I do have routines set in place. My routines are extremely important to me and changes to routine need to be handled with consideration and empathy. I am quite artistic and enjoy spending time pursuing this side of my nature. I have a beautiful dog who is MY person, and I am hers. She is one of the most important things to me, and we take care of each other.
I am seeking a mature yet energetic support worker who has demonstrated experience supporting in environments where self- and co-regulation is required. Previous collaboration with PBS teams is highly desired. My ideal support worker would have a calm disposition, be consistent and centred no matter what is occurring in the environment, and be able to motivate and energise me when required.
My ideal support worker would be a team player, not someone who “knows it all.” Someone who comes in and can appreciate the life I have created for myself with the assistance of my family and who wishes to complement and enrich it, not change it. My new support worker should create a relationship of trust between us, but they should also understand my boundaries and maintain and enforce their own from the beginning. Boundaries are extremely important when supporting me.
Change is sometimes unsettling for me, so this slow introduction to working alongside me is required to ensure my sense of safety and comfort.
My shifts are 24-hour shifts paid under the SCHADS Award. I am currently seeking someone to support in filling Sunday, Monday and Thursday shifts. However, flexibility can be considered for the right person.
