With a reputation for delivering quality, on time, every time – they’re now seeking a hands-on Fabrication Manager to drive performance and team success.
🔧 About the Role:
Located in Somerton, this is a full-time, permanent position leading a team of 8–12 fabricators, and welders. You'll be responsible for coordinating workshop operations, managing production schedules, ensuring QA compliance, and promoting a culture of safety and efficiency.
🕒 Workshop Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 6:00am – 2:30pm
Friday: 6:00am – 12:00pm
Saturday Overtime Available: 6:00am – 12:00/1:00pm
🔩 Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily operations in the structural steel fabrication workshop
Supervise fabrication of beams, columns, bracing, and plate work to specification
Lead a dedicated, qualified team of fabricators and welders to meet output targets
Interpret fabrication drawings and troubleshoot build issues on the floor
Enforce strict adherence to safety procedures and PPE compliance
Coordinate job scheduling, material availability, and priority changes
Conduct QA checks, including weld quality, tolerances, and finish
Maintain workshop equipment and liaise with maintenance where needed
Assist with timesheets, job tracking, and production reporting
🧰 What You Bring:
Trade-qualified Boilermaker / Fabricator with strong hands-on experience
Proven leadership in a structural steel fabrication environment
Deep understanding of welding processes (MIG, FCAW, etc.) and fabrication techniques
Ability to read and interpret complex fabrication and erection drawings
Calm, clear communicator with strong team mentoring skills
Competent with basic workshop admin and computer-based systems
Strong commitment to OH&S, quality control, and project deadlines
