Group Financial Controller – Lead ERP Transformation for a Leading Manufacturing Firm

Our client, a well-established manufacturing engineering business, is seeking an experienced Group Financial Controller to lead their finance team and play a key role in their transition to a new ERP system. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior finance professional to drive strategic financial initiatives while overseeing a team of five direct reports.

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Team, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the overall financial management of the business, including profit & loss and balance sheet oversight, statutory compliance, and strategic financial leadership. A key focus of this role will be leading the transition from MYOB Greentree to a new ERP system, ensuring a smooth and efficient implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the finance team (five direct reports), ensuring high performance and operational efficiency.
• Oversee financial reporting, management accounting, and strategic financial analysis to drive business improvements.
• Provide financial, accounting, and commercial leadership as a key member of the Executive Team.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (ATO, ASIC, payroll, superannuation, WorkCover, etc.).
• Manage quarterly BAS, tax compliance, audit preparation, and statutory reporting.
• Develop and maintain relationships with external auditors, tax accountants, insurers, and banking partners.
• Oversee company secretarial duties, including shareholder relations and corporate governance.
• Administer and maintain the current ERP system (MYOB Greentree) while driving the transition to a new ERP platform.
• Manage government grant applications
• Review and negotiate commercial contracts to support business objectives.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring finance teams.
• Expertise in ERP systems, particularly in system transitions or implementations.
• A deep understanding of accounting standards, taxation, and statutory compliance.
• A strategic mindset with a proactive approach to financial management and business improvement.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience liaising with executives, auditors, and financial institutions.
