With double digit revenue and EBITDA growth, this organisation has doubled in size over the last 2 years and have experienced consistent year on year organic and acquisitive growth and has a strategic vision to continue this growth in the coming years. Within the next 3 years, they have plans to double in size. Due to this strategy a new role has been created for a Financial Controller.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Reporting to an entrepreneurial and highly influential CFO, this Financial Controller sits on the finance leadership team and will support the delivery of major finance objectives as the organisation aims to continue its aggressive growth journey. The Financial Controller will act as a true partner to the executive leadership team including the CEO and private equity board to provide ongoing strategic support, strong financial control, change management, transformation and to support the organisational M&A growth agenda.
As the Financial Controller, you will take full ownership for the strategic delivery of business financial results. The Financial Controller has primary day-to-day responsibility for supporting business strategies to add value beyond finance across a broad range of stakeholders and providing leadership to the finance team. The key success factor will be your ability to business partner and lead a team through the development of a high performance culture. You will also be involved in supporting the ELT with key commercial decisions including M&A and financial negotiations.
This is a critical role to assist in driving the business through its aggressive hyper-growth ‘expansion phase’ whilst implementing best practice processes and procedures throughout the finance function. You will act as the “confidant” and “right hand person” to the CFO, freeing them up to focus on strategically growing the business. Critical to the role will be developing a vision for superior service across the organisation, driving the performance of the team and taking them out of their comfort zone.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting directly to the CFO and working in partnership with the private equity advisory board, your key responsibilities as the Financial Controller will include:
- Leadership and Management - manage, lead and nurture the financial control team, developing meaningful performance management and development plans;
- Financial business partnership – Act as a true 2IC and partner to the CFO, CEO and Executive Leadership Team as well as Private Equity board to support commercial strategy and financial direction;
- Operational performance management - Provide financial advice and support to key business leaders to effectively and efficiently manage business operations and performance;
- Financial stewardship - manage and oversee the group finance function including timely delivery of month end processes, companywide commercial planning and board reporting;
- Strategy development & execution - Work with the ELT on long term business plans, strategic growth initiatives, new business concepts, expansion plans and capital strategy;
- Financial and commercial risk - Deliver plans to execute strategic initiatives and meet forecasted revenue and EBIT;
- Own the Cash Flow, Treasury, Tax and External Compliance functions;
- Growth, M&A and deal support - Provide advice and support across M&A, due diligence, business integrations and financial negotiations;
- Business systems & process improvement - Spearhead improvement and best practise across finance transformation including new reporting, analytics, systems and processes.
- Stakeholder relationship management – establish collaborative cross functional relationships with sales, marketing and operations to meet business needs as well as coaching and contributing to business strategy.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
You are a collaborative and empowered leader that will nurture, inspire and grow your team. You will bring to the role strong commercial acumen, vision for growth, and a passion for best in class processes. You will have a track record of adding value through an absolute understanding of key business drivers; the capacity to drive change; and the ability to influence performance.

You must display the hunger, energy and drive that you are willing to be hands-on, not afraid of a challenge whilst having the gravitas to communicate and influence an impressive Executive team and Private Equity Board.
You are ideally Big 4/Mid-Tier trained with strong corporate rigour. Experience within a multi-site services organisation is highly advantageous as well as experience working within a private equity environment.

The Financial Controller needs to have immediate credibility and be able to earn the trust and confidence of the CFO, CEO, the Private Equity Board and the executive leadership team. You will demonstrate proven commercial acumen and strategic thinking supported by a high level of competency in finance management.
In addition, you will have:
- CA/CPA qualification;
- Strong knowledge of technical accounting standards including IFRS16 and acquisition accounting;
- Experience managing complex tax matters including deferred tax calculations and tax consolidation;
- Commercial finance acumen with a proven track record of actively driving commercial agendas across the business.
- Experience implementing, delivering and managing new systems and reporting tools.
- Highly developed written & verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively manage a wide range of key stakeholders.
- Pro-active and customer focused mind set.
- The ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities
- Superior stakeholder management, including advanced influencing and negotiation skills.
