Role Description
This is a part-time on-site position located minutes from the scenic Manly Harbour in a converted Queenslander home, that provides a beautiful setting for educating and caring for young children. We are currently looking to appoint a pedagogical co-ordinator (Educational Leader) to join our management team, who has experience in leadership and holds a Diploma or Bachelor or is studying towards their degree in the early years. The role consists of inspiring, motivating, challenging and affirming educators to extend and refine their practice within the curriculum to support the growing minds of our youngest citizens.
Key Responsibilities:
Effective communication is key, as the Pedagogical Coordinator supports and facilitates educators through studio meetings, works closely with the Franchisee and Nominated Supervisor and is a point of contact for families and the community. To be successful in this role, organisation skills are a priority, as it is important to be aware of the ever-changing curriculum, policies and procedures and support educators in understanding these. The Pedagogical Coordinator is part of the management team and needs to hold strong leadership skills, including but not limited to – Critical thinking, adaptability, decision-making, time management and reliability. The Pedagogical coordinator spends time above ratio working on the floor, alongside educators to support them with their practices. Other responsibilities:
Collaborate with the team to complete documentation of children's development and learning
Collaborate with the team in providing a haven for children to feel safe and secure
Collaborate with the team to provide children with a clean, safe and inviting learning environment
Engage in professional and respectful communication with families, children and the team
Assist in the running of studio meetings and engage in whole team professional conversations
Contribute to the philosophy of the educational curriculum and actively live the values and vision of the centre and Mother Duck
Support your colleagues in striving for a high-quality curriculum, embedding practices and
Collaborate with the team at professional conversations to extend and deepen our understanding of child development.
Skills and Experience:
Experience working with children aged 0-5 years in a kindergarten or childcare setting
Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standard (NQS)
Sound knowledge of the principles of Reggio Emilia
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Current First Aid Certificate and CPR, or willingness to obtain
Current Working with Children Check
Passionate about providing quality care and education to children
Previous experience working in an international school environment is advantageous but not essential
