- SCIENCE - AGRICULTURE - LABORATORY

A long term full time position now exists for a laboratory technician based at Nutrilab. Nutrilab is a busy agricultural laboratory in Goondiwindi specialising in soil, seed, plants and water analysis.

Goondiwindi is a rural town on the border of Queensland and New South Wales, 4 Hours and 354km west of Brisbane. Goondiwindi has a population of 5, 439 (2021) with the nearest large town 221 km (2.5 hours) away. The successful applicant must live in Goondiwindi and find their own accommodation and travel as there is no public transportation within the town.

This position is not suitable for short stay work visas.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Full Time position.
• 5 Days a week.
• Based in Goondiwindi (regional QLD).
• Degree in Science preferred - (Agriculture/General, chemistry or Medical)
• Seasonal overtime required and paid accordingly.
• No experience necessary - perfect position for graduates.
  

The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the laboratory function by ensuring all samples are appropriately prepared and analysed in a timely manner while assisting with various other laboratory duties, to achieve operation, customer and quality requirements. The main duties will include but not limited to:

• Sample receipt and documentation
• Customer service - interacting with customers from sample receipt through to delivery of results.
• Sample preparation - various preparation techniques dependent on sample type and analysis required.
• Sample extraction - prepare and use various extraction procedures on soils and plant samples.
• Sample analysis - use a variety of instrumentation to analyse the samples that have been prepared.

The successful applicant needs to have:

• General computer skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• General knowledge of agriculture.
• Previous knowledge or interest in chemistry and biology.
• Ability to work long term (greater than 1 year) in this position.
