About the opportunity

The Sydney Pharmacy School is a globally recognised leading centre for pharmacy research and education. Our teams of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy, across a range of therapeutic areas.

The University is seeking to employ seeking a part-time Research Coordinator / Administration (HEO5) for a 3-year term to join the research team in the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) grant.

This position is linked to a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) grant: A stronger voice for Australian patients and health consumers: toolkit for independence.

This project's overarching aim is to identify how best to facilitate and support a strong and independent patient voice in Australian health policy through co-design of a 'toolkit' to assist patient groups navigate industry sponsorship arrangements. Working within the Evidence, Policy and Influence Collaborative (EPIC), under the supervision of Professor Barbara Mintzes, the incumbent will work closely with a broader team of project investigators based at the University of Sydney, Health Consumers New South Wales, Consumers Health Forum, Australian National University, Istituto Mario Negri (Italy), York University (Canada), University of Colorado (USA), and University of Bath (UK). This multi-disciplinary project involves close collaboration between consumer health organisations and academic researchers and the project spans the disciplines of epidemiology, bioethics, political science, law and sociology.

The time Research Coordinator/ Administration (HEO5) will be based within the Charles Perkins Centre within the Camperdown campus.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide general administrative assistance for research activities and organise relevant meetings
  • support the submission process for articles and grant applications and adherence to relevant guidelines
  • assist in the tracking and documentation of research finances and preliminary grant applications
  • facilitate ongoing communication with a broad range of stakeholders, proactively addressing any concerns, and collaborating with team members to continuously improve stakeholder relations
  • coordinate with the team to produce quality reports, verify data accuracy within university systems, and actively engage in compliance initiatives to uphold regulations
  • process regular purchasing and payment activities, ensuring timely and accurate invoice management, oversight of the budget, financial reporting and administration
  • circulate of a regular informal research team newsletter and timelines
  • assist with ethics applications, data extraction, duplicate coding for systemic reviews
  • assist with recruitment and scheduling interviews.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • postgraduate qualifications - An equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
  • proven experience in supporting research and researchers in a research-intensive environment
  • proven internal and external stakeholder management
  • excellent interpersonal skills
  • proven experience in a research-intensive environment
  • experience in writing research applications and grant writing
  • previous project management experience.
