About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Assistant Accountant to support our Senior Accountant and Finance team in their day-to-day operations. This role involves managing both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, as well as providing general support to the wider finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
AP (Accounts Payable):
Entering invoices into the accounts payable system daily
Processing payments according to authorisation guidelines
Filing and maintaining supplier records
Verifying and checking the accuracy of invoices
Completing ad hoc tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Managing weekly AP reporting
AR (Accounts Receivable):
Preparing customer invoices in accordance with accounting procedures
Investigating discrepancies in invoices and ensuring charge accuracy
Matching payments to corresponding invoice numbers or sales orders
Handling customer inquiries regarding billing issues
Managing the AR ledger and related files
Managing weekly AR reporting
Supporting Duties:
Assisting the Senior/Managing Accountant and broader finance team
Conducting intercompany reconciliations
Collaborating on various accounting projects
Helping with account reconciliations and cash flow reporting
Ensuring payments and invoices are processed accurately and within deadlines
Assisting in preparing profit and loss statements
Qualifications & requirements:
Relevant degree OR qualification in finance OR accounting OR a related discipline.
Minimum 12 months of experience in an accounting role
Accounting experience preferably in construction or property development industry, but not essential.
Proficient in Xero & Microsoft excel, is essential
CA/CPA qualified is desirable
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Strong prioritisation skills to meet tight deadlines
Positive mindset with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
