Assistant Accountant / Administration
Our client is currently seeking an assistant accountant to join their team. The position available will be full time and will be based in the Rosehill area.
The candidate should ideally have both general accounting skills and industry-specific knowledge to support the financial and operational aspects of the business and may include duties including but not limited to:
1. Administrative & Office Management
• Maintain schedules for financial reporting, invoicing, and payroll.
• Assist with contracts, agreements, and insurance documentation.
• Keep track of staff schedules, leave records, and employment documentation.
2. Accounting & Bookkeeping Support
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including race winnings distribution.
• Reconcile bank accounts and track expenses related to horse care, training, and transportation.
• Assist with payroll processing for stable staff, riders, and trainers.
• Prepare financial reports, budgets, and forecasts for management.
3. Horse Industry Financial Knowledge
• Process owner invoices for training fees, veterinary expenses, and farrier services.
• Track expenses for feed, supplements, equipment, and transport.
4. Communication & Client Relations
• Act as a key point of contact for horse owners regarding financial matters.
• Prepare and send monthly statements, invoices, and payment reminders.
• Handle phone and email inquiries professionally and efficiently.
5. Technical & Software Proficiency
• Use accounting software MYOB for payroll.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) for reporting and documentation.
• Experience with horse management software Ardex is a plus.
• Maintain an organized digital filing system for financial and operational records.
6. Organizational & Time Management
• Track and meet important deadlines (payroll, end of month accounts and supplier payment).
• Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Keep accurate records for audits, racing authorities, and business compliance.
7. Attention to Detail & Accuracy
• Ensure precise data entry for financial records, racing prize distributions, and owner billing.
• Double-check financial transactions to minimize discrepancies.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and business information.
8. Problem-Solving & Initiative
• Identify and address inconsistencies in financial records.
• Proactively follow up on outstanding invoices and accounts.
• Assist in improving efficiency in financial and administrative processes.
Industry-Specific Value-Adds:
Experience in the horse racing industry is preferred.
The start and finish times will be between 8am and 4.30pm.
Immediate start is preferred.
