The Role

Our client, an established engineering consultancy, is seeking a Site Supervisor, with a SMP/Process plant background, to support one of their major greenfield mineral sands projects. This is a critical role, as the project is about to commence construction on the process plant and infrastructure.

Role Responsibilities:

Ensure that all personnel, including subcontractors, understand site regulations, relevant HSE contractual obligations, local legislative requirements, and the possible repercussions of non-compliance.

Supervise individuals under their responsibility to confirm they fulfill their assigned duties.

Provide clear instructions on the correct work procedures to those under their supervision.

Identify necessary training needs for their team and communicate these requirements to management.

Verify that all provided equipment and machinery are suitable for the job, meet certification standards, and are only operated by authorized personnel.

Enforce disciplinary measures as needed for breaches of HSE rules and procedures.

Maintain high standards of site cleanliness and organization.

Address worker safety concerns and take appropriate action.

Participate in investigations related to accidents, injuries, or significant safety incidents.

Oversee delivery vehicles to ensure they adhere to site entry and movement protocols.

Take part in CRAWs and ensure all work is performed in line with relevant Construction Risk Assessments.

Conduct one Critical Control Verification and one work area inspection per day.

Determine any necessary Permits for Work required for daily tasks.

Communicate Site Notifications during Pre-starts and lead Pre-start Meetings.

Attend leadership training on-site when required.

Exhibit strong safety leadership and set high expectations for safe work practices among the team.

Emphasize the need to intervene in potentially unsafe situations and encourage active risk awareness, particularly in routine tasks.

Provide proactive leadership on HSE matters, fostering behaviors that safeguard both people and the environment while supporting HSE Advisors.

Manage the installation, maintenance, and updating of signage, including designated access points within the work area.

What you'll have:

Trade qualification in a discipline related to SMP

Industry White Card.

Background in overseeing construction contracts for Structural, Mechanical, and Piping (SMP) project execution.

Extensive experience, including significant supervisory or technical expertise in SMP. Previous fieldwork is crucial, along with EPCM project involvement in a related sector.

Strong technical, hands-on, and leadership capabilities within relevant disciplines, with a track record of managing project packages of comparable scale. In-depth understanding of structural, mechanical, and piping systems, with specialized expertise in the installation and completion of mineral sands concentrator plants.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint. Skilled in organizing data from multiple sources while maintaining compliance with set formats and policies.

Familiarity with Completions Management Software, with preference for experience in Hexagon Smart Completions.
