PRIMARY ROLE STATEMENT
The Administrative Support position at the Tasmanian Branch plays a critical role in providing administrative support to the State Secretary and Branch Organisers. The role ensures smooth operations by managing the administrative requirements of the Branch. This position demands strong organisational, communication, and time management skills to support the effective governance of the organisation.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
• Organisational Skills: Exceptional ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and a methodical approach.
• Time Management: Capable of prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines, even under pressure and at short notice.
• Confidentiality: Proven experience handling sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Team Collaboration: Able to work well within a small team, adapting to a variety of tasks to meet the organisation's needs.
• Commitment to Trade Unionism: A strong dedication to the principles and values of trade unions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Reception: Answer calls and staff the reception desk at the Branch Office.
• Travel and Accommodation: Arrange travel logistics, including bookings for transportation and accommodation.
• Event management: Arrange meetings and conferences.
• Diary Management: Oversee and coordinate the State Secretary’s schedule, meetings, and appointments.
• Correspondence Management: Draft, monitor, and respond to emails and official communications.
• File Management: Organise and maintain files in compliance with AMWU policies.
• Membership enquiries: Liaise with members and update the membership system, under the guidance of the National Membership Coordinator.
• Payroll and finance: Process leave applications and pay invoices, under the guidance of the National Finance Coordinator.
• Internal and external audit: Assist in preparation of internal and external audits by maintaining files and complying with policy and procedures.
• Stakeholder Liaison: Communicate with external stakeholders, including politicians, government departments, and boards.
• Ad-Hoc Requests: Provide additional support as required by the State Secretary or Branch Organisers on various tasks or projects.

• Monthly RDOs (Rostered Days Off) for full-time.
• 25% leave loading
• 12.5% superannuation
• 4 weeks annual leave, plus Christmas shutdown
