About the role
The Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies and Enhanced Maternal Child Health (EMCH) programs form part of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Service. Beginning in the antenatal period, the programs are designed to promote optimal health and wellbeing outcomes for families. The MCH Service has a clear direction to deliver primary and secondary health care and targeted support to maximise the health and wellbeing goals of Australian children.
Duties
- Encourage client engagement through assertive outreach.
- Ensure informed consent and participation in decision making to promote self-help and independence.
- Utilise family centred principles of empowering and encouraging in all client contacts.
- Enhance health, safety and well-being through community-based involvement and community support.
- Provide health education to enhance behaviour modification in areas such as substance use.
- Provide early intervention opportunities.
- Provide holistic, multidisciplinary approach to ensure that care is comprehensive and coordinated via collaborative case discussions with other supports engaged with client.
- Reduce the impact of vaccine preventable disease
Skills & Experience
- Aboriginal Health Worker Certificate IV
- Demonstrated ability to participate in or coordinate groups for parents exploring themes including infant mental health, depression, anxiety & parenting styles.
