We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Community Engagement Officer to join our team at Willoughby City Council!

About the role
The Community Engagement Officer will assist the Community Engagement Team Leader in planning and executing community engagement projects across various Council departments. You will oversee a range of engagement methods, including drop-ins, surveys, workshops, and other techniques, to ensure active community participation in project planning and decision-making.
Additionally, you will manage the ‘Have Your Say’ website, developing content, monitoring data, and reporting insights to support project decisions. Your role will focus on ensuring projects adhere to best practice community engagement processes, strengthening relationships with key stakeholders and the local community.
Requirements
- Qualifications in Communications, Social Science, Engagement, or related discipline or equivalent experience in a community engagement role.
- Extensive experience in managing projects from initiation to completion, including planning, execution, and delivery.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Thrive in a dynamic role with opportunities to lead both in-person activities and create engaging online content.
- Exceptional interpersonal and organisational skills as well as a demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Have a knowledge and capability in utilising online platforms
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a high quality service.
