Protech are looking for 6 experienced Project Officers to join a new team with the National Fire Ant Eradication Project.

In this role, your responsibilities will be to support the project planning, development, and execution to undertake two aerial treatments of approximately 106,000 hectares of known high infestations of fire ants within the suppression area.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Immediate start available
• Contract through June 2026 with possibility of extension
• $66.86 per hour
• Based in Mutdapilly or Berrinba

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and undertake Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce aerial treatment project activities to engage large landholders, including primary producers, other government agencies and high-risk industries, in aerial fire ant treatment and effective self-management of fire ants on the land they own or manage
• Provide technical advice to large landholders in areas targeted for aerial treatment on the effective implementation of fire ant management, including risk mitigation, surveillance, treatment and reporting
• Coordinate and track project activities including project deliverables and risks. This includes preparation of farm assessments, fire ant self-management plans and recording of data in internal databases
• Provide technical support to the operational delivery of the project and its role in assisting the efforts of the National Fire Ant Eradication Program
  

TICKETS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Current open 'C' class Drivers Licence and reliable transport
• Ability to pass National Police Check prior to commencement
• Previous experience in Project Coordination or Management
• A qualification or relevant experience in agriculture, natural resource management, stakeholder engagement and communication, particularly with primary producers or rural communities would be highly regarded
