This role will work as part of the technical development and Personal Injury Register (PIR) Uplift team, supporting the current PIR platform and working toward a new solution. The role will provide application support, business analysis, testing and documentation to enable the delivery on new solution for MAIC PIR and ongoing support. The work will be a combination of BAU and project work for the Personal Injury Register.
This role will work as part of the technical development and Personal Injury Register (PIR) Uplift team, supporting the current PIR platform and working toward a new solution. The role will provide application support, business analysis, testing and documentation to enable the delivery on new solution for MAIC PIR and ongoing support. The work will be a combination of BAU and project work for the Personal Injury Register.
The role reports directly to the Director PMO & Delivery and is expected to establish and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with all internal stakeholders. The role does not oversee any direct reports.
Requirement
This role combines both a functional BA element and a technical component. As a Business Analyst, you will be providing services in Business Analysis & Data validation, user stories, acceptance criteria and testing, data and file comparisons, parallel system validation and collaborating closely with a cross functional team to support the current PIR (BAU system support) and work with the PIR Uplift project.
There are 2 components required for this uplift:
- Business analysis - functional analysis for refactoring legacy to new platform.
- Technical analysis and skills that enable the ability to work with and support the developers to validate 2 systems and records, during the iterative technical development and the application build. This will also include all the related testing.

Future state:
- Appian front end/UI, and workflow, enquiry system
- Transitioning to interim Spring Boot application and migration to Azure Cloud
Phase 1 work:
- Provide Business Analysis & testing for replacement screens and application functions that are moving from Java app to Appian - including screens, workflow, reports, user access.
- Validate data search function results and compare to legacy system
- Test and validate file submissions & formats, workflow records, error numbers, data record counts and reports
- Work closely with developers to document, test and support their work
- Liaise with stakeholders to elicit requirements and testing
- Run agile ceremonies for PIR uplift and maintain JIRA & Confluence
- Familiarise with legacy system (which will run in parallel) and validate between 2 systems.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Technical Lead & Delivery Lead to plan the scope of activities, in conjunction with project team members.
- Provide ongoing support and testing for the current PIR (BAU) to ensure continuing operation during application transition.
- Plan and perform Business Analysis to produce requirements, use cases and appropriate documentation, for PIR future state, to provide a basis for developers to design and build the solutions.
- Deliver results and achieve outcomes through completing activities and managing your work in a timely, efficient and focussed manner.
- Manage, plan and undertake testing across the platforms, applications and data sources to ensure quality releases, data & report validation and integrity of outputs to maintain the accuracy of a high value dataset.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with all stakeholders. maintaining a client focus at all times, whilst providing support, respectful guidance and timely responses.
- Contribute to the performance of the Innovation & Delivery Team through active participation in planning, reviewing performance, continuous improvement and innovation activities, and by providing support to other teams and less experienced team members.
Experience
- Experience transitioning of legacy monolithic application to a modern application architecture
- System/functional redesign, integration, data migration and validation testing
- Requirements elicitation in an Agile environment (e.g. Features, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria or Business Requirements Documentation)
- Process & Systems Analysis, Design and Execution using BPMN or similar
- Facilitating Requirements and Process Workshops
- Performing systems and data analysis
- Migration and uplift of legacy application to new platform and parallel run testing
- Knowledge of JIRA & Confluence/Microsoft/Similar platforms to manage and document work
- Experience or knowledge of delivering and supporting solutions on a range of platforms, applications and databases - Appian (or similar workflow applications), Java, Oracle, PL SQL, Databricks, PowerBI, Python, Figma, Azure & AWS cloud hosting
Skills required
Business Analysis
- Experience in leading and executing Agile ceremonies in day-to-day work
- Experience and/or knowledge of CTP and Personal Injury legislation or equivalent (highly valued).
- Demonstrated experience in performing Business Analysis, planning, managing and delivering scope, backlog, testing, sprints and system deployments.
- Demonstrated experience with Business Analysis processes, technical artefacts, business and technical requirements/specifications, system and data analysis and related documentation in an Agile framework working with complex Oracle databases.
- Demonstrated experience with validating data sets, file content comparisons and testing methodologies for parallel system comparison in an iterative uplift. Tools and skills: Data structure and relational database knowledge and Oracle / PL SQL (highly valued).
- Experience and/or knowledge of providing business analysis for client focussed solutions hosted in government cloud/enterprise environments and the related security and privacy requirements.
- Experience in the use of, or knowledge of Appian or similar product, Business Process Modelling, JIRA, Confluence, Figma, Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, SharePoint, and Oracle & SQL relational databases.
- Customer-Centred Approach: Understands the purpose and benefits of leveraging Customer-Centred practices and can create basic user personas, user stories, customer journey mapping
- Demonstrates that they can stay ahead and be constantly updating their information and undertake continuous learning
