About the opportunity:

Position: Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Candidate

Vacancy: Fixed term temporary part-time, 39.50 hours per fortnight, commencing ASAP up to 07/03/2027

Location: Neonatal Unit, Townsville University Hospital

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Candidate will be supported to gain clinical experience and clinical practice requirements whilst undertaking Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner). As the candidate you will be provided with mentorship and direct supervision by the medical and nurse practitioner team to develop clinical competence at an advanced and expanded level including neonatal retrievals. Candidates requiring clinical placement in 2026 are encouraged to apply.

  • Salary range: $66.85 to $72.58 p.h. (NG7)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

Requirements:

  • Mandatory qualifications (Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent) and proof of registration (if applicable).
  • Successful candidate must be enrolled in a Master of Nursing Science (Nurse Practitioner) course at the time of commencing the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Candidate position.
  • Attainment of Neonatal Specific Competencies are mandatory for all nursing staff working within the Neonatal Unit.
  • Possession of class C drivers' licence.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted including criminal history clearance.
