SALARY:
$70k - $75k + Super + Free Parking + Flexible working; Full-time permanent position.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
Reporting to an extremely high performing and influential Finance Manager, this Assistant Accountant will support the delivery of major finance objectives as the organisation aims to continue its growth journey. The Assistant Accountant is a highly visible and crucial role.

The purpose of this role is to assist the Finance Manager and broader finance function to develop and adopt the best financial practices to achieve the Company’s strategic objectives. In this highly autonomous and empowering role you will act as an “in-house” advisor on financial matters across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and general accounting. The ability to communicate effectively with non-finance minded people is going to be crucial for the success of this role. This is a critical role to assist in driving the business through its next period of growth and positioning the business as a leader in their industry whilst implementing best practice governance throughout the finance function.

The role is an exciting opportunity and requires someone with a passion for accounting along with a commercially sound mindset that is always looking to drive business performance. The main function of this role is to take ownership of and deliver proactive, efficient and insightful reporting. You will be required to prepare consistent and accurate financial reports, whilst continuously looking to improve financial controls and stewardship across the accounting function. A key component of this role is to provide cross functional central support to the finance team as well as to the broader operational teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Finance Manager and working in partnership with the finance team, your key responsibilities will include:

• Accounting Duties: Daily bank reconciliations, weekly sales import reconciliations, EOM journals, balance sheet reconciliations
• Accounts Duties: Assist with day-to-day financial transactions, including invoicing and payment processing.
• Corporate Card Administration: Assist employees in the accurate and timely submission of credit card transactions and assist card holders with system queries.
• Stakeholder Support: Work closely with internal teams to clear queries and provide information.
• Audit Support: Assist the Finance Manager with the annual audit.
• Project Work: Participate in ad-hoc projects to improve system and processes to support business decision-making.
• Ad Hoc Support: Provide general administrative assistance as needed.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience: At least 1 year experience in a similar role. Our client is willing to consider candidates from an Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable background who are willing to step up into an Assistant Accountant position.
• Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting/Finance.
• Software Proficiency: Knowledge of accounting software (MYOB Advanced preferred).
• Technical Skills: Intermediate Excel skills (ability to do v-look ups, cross reference data, pivots etc) experience with workflow management tools like Monday.com (preferred).
• Professional Skills: Strong attention to detail, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities. Must be able to work autonomously.
