Position: Senior Project Officer (AO6)

Location: Berrinba or Mutdapilly

Employment Type: Mon – Fri, 36.25 hrs a week until June 2026

Payrate: $76/hr + super

Maxima is currently seeking various highly motivated individuals as a Senior Project Officer for one of our government clients.

About the role:

In this role, you will play a pivotal role in helping protect Queensland's environment from the spread of fire ants. This is a hands-on, leadership-focused position where you will oversee key aspects of a large-scale aerial treatment project aimed at suppressing and eradicating fire ants in targeted areas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the aerial treatment project for the Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce.
• Supervise a small team to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.
• Coordinate, report, and track project activities, including deliverables, risks and progress.
• Oversee data collection and integration into the National Fire Ant Eradication Program IT systems.
• Provide expert technical advice to large landholders on fire ant management practices.
• Collaborate with landholders to coordinate aerial treatment and land-based treatments.
• Represent the Department at workshops, field days, and meetings with stakeholders.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Current, unrestricted ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
• Australian citizen, permanent resident, or valid work visa.
