Senior Project Officer - Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce

Hourly Rate: $76 - $77

About the Role:

Our government client is responsible for the monitoring and eradication of harmful invasive pests across Southeast Queensland and nationally. As part of this mission, they are seeking an experienced Senior Project Officer to support the Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce in delivering an aerial treatment project aimed at fire ant eradication. This role requires strong project management expertise, stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to lead a small team in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement project management strategies to ensure the successful planning, execution, and evaluation of the aerial treatment project.
• Lead and supervise a small project team to ensure efficient and effective delivery.
• Provide project coordination, risk management, and reporting on deliverables.
• Oversee data collection, mapping, and integration into departmental IT systems, ensuring compliance with governance and reporting standards.
• Provide technical guidance to large landholders on fire ant management, including risk mitigation, surveillance, treatment, and reporting.
• Plan and coordinate stakeholder engagement activities to support aerial and land-based treatment efforts.
• Represent the Department at workshops, field days, and meetings to promote fire ant management initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams within the National Fire Ant Eradication Program and Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce.
• Flexibility to undertake some weekend work as required.

Mandatory Requirements:

• A current, unrestricted 'C' class driver's licence.
• Full working rights - No Limitations.
• National Police Clearance - Dated within 12 months
