Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Director HR Services APAC, the Team Leader Payroll is responsible for leading the payroll operations for our Australia and New Zealand team members. This role requires a seasoned payroll professional who can ensure accurate payroll processing, compliance with local legislation, and the delivery of a high-quality service. The Team Leader will manage a team of payroll specialists, drive process improvements, and be a key advisor on complex payroll matters.

Your Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and develop a team of payroll professionals, providing guidance and feedback.

Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and support career development/training.

Keep the team informed of changes in payroll legislation, system updates, and company policies.

Oversee and contribute to, the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees in Australia and New Zealand.

Ensure payroll calculations, adjustments, and deductions are correctly applied, including taxes, superannuation, and other statutory obligations.

Manage month-end and year-end payroll processes, including reconciliations, reporting, and statutory filings.

Implement changes to payroll procedures and policies to align with legislative and organisational requirements.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and employee satisfaction.

Manage the configuration, testing, and maintenance of payroll systems, ensuring data integrity and functionality.

Act as the primary point of contact for escalated payroll queries, providing expert advice and resolving complex issues.

Prepare and review payroll reports, including variance analysis and financial data for management review.

Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making and strategic planning.

What will help you to succeed?

Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, human resources or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).

Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team leader role.

In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations in Australia and New Zealand, including tax, superannuation, and employment law.

Experience with Payroll Software (e.g iCHRIS, SAP, UKG, KRONOS) and strongly proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Proven track record of leading a payroll team, including coaching, performance management and team development.

Excellent problem solving skills, and the ability to handle complex payroll issues with attention to detail.

Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with team members, management, and external stakeholders.

High level of integrity and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Ability to work flexible schedules as well as meeting minimum physical requirements of the job.
