The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Policy Officer to support an important reform initiative. This project focuses on enhancing governance, quality assurance, and policy frameworks across the sector. As a Policy Officer, you will play a key role in developing policy frameworks, analysing existing documentation, identifying gaps, and providing recommendations to optimise governance structures. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-visibility project with long-term national impact.
This role is available in Canberra, any other major city across Australia, or can be fully remote. Staff are able to use the hybrid work model, with 2 days per week in the office (location dependent).
The Role
In this role, you will:
- Contribute to the development of policy frameworks to support the reform project
- Analyse existing policies, documents, and governance structures to identify areas for improvement
- Provide recommendations on policy priorities and governance effectiveness
- Draft high-quality policy documents, briefs, and reports with a keen attention to detail
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with broader enterprise governance
The Ideal Person
Our client is looking for someone who has:
- Strong experience in policy development, ideally within government or similar sectors
- A solid understanding of governance processes and frameworks
- The ability to analyse complex information and develop strategic recommendations
- Excellent writing skills, with attention to detail and clarity
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with a wide range of internal stakeholders
- A background in biosecurity, science, or related fields is desirable but not essential
- Experience working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
To be eligible for this role, you must be an Australian citizen and hold a Baseline Security Clearance.
Salary / Rate
- $60/hr - $75/hr + 11.5% Super
- 6-month labour hire contract with the potential for a 12-month extension
- Office located in Canberra City
- Role open to candidates Australia-wide, with remote and flexible work options available
