Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated experience & knowledge of the procedures and processes of Specimen Reception.
- Demonstrated experience & knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge in the correct procedures of specimen collection/phlebotomy including the application of established policies and guidelines with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated knowledge of the importance of standard precautions in dealing with patients and biological specimens.
- Proven ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately with minimal supervision after careful instruction.
- Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team and to communicate effectively with clients, clinical staff and colleagues
- Positive focus upon patient care within a hospital health care environment.
- Demonstrate a high level of commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
- Demonstrate data entry skills with the ability to work accurately and give attention to detail
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- While not mandatory, a relevant qualification such as a Certificate 3 or 4 in Phlebotomy or Laboratory Techniques would be well regarded.
- This position requires the incumbent to participate in rosters that may include day shifts, evening shifts, weekends, public holidays and overtime as required. It is anticipated that service delivery will be continually optimised so there may be future changes to roster requirements.
