About Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY)
HIPPY is a two-year home based, early learning program for families with young children. It helps families to create a fun home learning environment through play-based activities. HIPPY aims to support a smooth transition to school and inspire a real connection to and love of learning. It also provides parents and carers with the confidence and tools to support their child’s learning, empowering them as their child’s first educator and building positive connections between families and their child.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic HIPPY Mentor to join our team in Geraldton on Part-Time basis working Tuesday and Friday mornings. As a HIPPY Mentor, you will work closely with families to empower them in their role as their child's first tutor.
There may be an opportunity to work additional hours. Please note our Mentors will be working during term time only.
What You'll Do
Responsibilities include:
• Provide one-on-one support and guidance to families in the HIPPY program.
• Share educational activities based on the HIPPY curriculum, adjusting activities to suit different family needs with Coordinator support
• Participate in training for each activity pack before delivering to families
• Organise and attend regular home visits with assigned families.
• Monitor family progress and provide feedback.
• Assist with planning and conducting group gatherings, including shared supervision of children.
What You Need
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A passion for meeting and supporting families and children
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle, with third party insurance minimum.
• Current Working with Children Check and recent National Police Check (within the last 6 months).
• Commitment to the two-year role to ensure continuity for families in the program.
• Experience or knowledge of the HIPPY program is highly desirable.
