Mainswest, in partnership with Western Power and Local Government, are undergrounding the overhead distribution network in Perth Metro areas and we are looking to expand our internal crews to cope with demand.

Applicants should have a solid understanding of the Western Power network, be dependable, able to plan and execute tasks safely and efficiently and be physically fit as all roles are physically demanding and deadline driven.

HORIZONTAL DIRECTIONAL DRILLERS & HDD OFFSIDERS

• HDD operating experience with Vermeer D23x30 and D8x12 and tracking with Digitrak Falcon systems.
• Ability to set up the drill, plan optimum bore paths, mix drill mud for optimum soil conditions
• Ability to install electrical infrastructure to Western Power standards
• Operate a vacuum truck
• Read and decipher BYD and locate plans to manually pothole, locate and expose all services
• Complete construction paperwork such as JHA’s, dig permits, pre-starts and borelogs

CABLE LAYERS / GROUND WORKERS:

• Cable installation crews trench, lay & haul HV & LV cable
• Planning cable runs and maintaining clearances on existing services
• Excavations for pillars, streetlights and primary equipment sites
• Plunking, Hand digging and excavator works
• Driving Beavertail, vacuum and tipper trucks
• Preparation of Joint Bays and trenches
• Breakout of concrete footpaths or asphalt roadways
• Backfilling and compaction of holes and trenches
• Reinstatement of hardscapes and softscapes including reticulation
• Completion of all site paperwork; Safety & Quality records

Must Have's

• Truck Licence - MR to HC
• Current First Aid Certificate and CPR
• Construction blue/white card
• Western Power Cable Laying Ticket highly regarded

Advantageous

• Cert III in Trenchless Technology or Civil Construction (Apprenticeships on offer for suitable candidates)
• Excavator ticket, Quick Cut Saw and other relevant plant tickets
• Identify, Locate and Protect Underground Services
• Traffic Management BWTM/TC
• Western Power specific inductions and qualifications

Our main depot is in Wangara however we have commenced an 18 month project in City of Nedlands, with opportunity to commence work at the laydown yard locations in the project boundary benefiting candidates living south of the river.
