The role

The role of the Drillers Offsider is to assist the driller perform the day-to-day tasks associated with the drill rig. The Drillers Offsider will handle and present drill samples accurately as per the project and companies’ specifications in a safe, time-efficient manner, while complying with company policies and procedures. They will work in a team environment and assist in the general organization of the drill rig, auxiliary equipment and the drill site. They will be required to follow all instruction provided by the Driller and operate plant and equipment safely.

This role is perfect for someone who may have been a labourer and wants to look at pursuing a career in Drilling. Training will be offered to the right candidate.

Requirements

The physical demands and work environments described in this job description are representative of those that an employee will be exposed to and must manage to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. This job will require significant time spent:

Sitting – Driving / travelling to and from metropolitan and remote locations.

Equipment operation including forklifts, drilling equipment and hand tools.

Standing, walking, climbing, lifting, carrying, twisting.

Working near and around moving mechanical parts and equipment.

Working outside in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.

Position Competencies / Qualifications:

White Card (Must have)

First Aid

RIW – or the ability to obtain.

MR Licence or the ability to obtain - good driving record and ability to drive a heavy vehicle

Certificate II in Drilling Operations or the ability to undertake this qualification.

Forklift License (LF) or ability to obtain it.

Ability to pass medicals and / or drug and alcohol testing for client's requirements
