Pine Creek is a township that is situated 220km south of Darwin and 90KM north of Katherine and the population of the surrounding community is approximately 500 people.
The Pine Creek community has a National Trust Museum, Railway Museum, a resort with a pool and a restaurant, a café, a petrol station with a well-stocked general store, mechanic, a cricket ground and a medical centre. Umbrawarra Gorge Nature Park is just 30 minutes away, where you can camp, swim and hike in the beautiful scenery of the Big Rivers region.
Pine Creek School is part of the Katherine Group School and is the oldest operating school in the Northern Territory. Students attending the school come from Pine Creek and the nearby Indigenous community on Kybrook Farm. The children range from preschool – Year 6 and over 70% of the student population is Indigenous. The school has a shared reading, guided reading and guided writing approach and implements the numeracy program Count Me In Too.
As Principal you have full autonomy to manage school operations, including organisational and human resource management demands and you’ll be joining a committed team with strong links to the local community. You’ll be supported by the Department of Education that is on a journey to become the most improving education system in Australia and is committed to a strong and equitable public education system where every child can engage, grow and achieve.
