About the Role

To be a subject matter expert on injury management practices and ensure the most optimal outcomes for our clients by supporting the operations team with its decision making and knowledge management processes.

The principles of collaboration and informed decision-making are central to optimal care and will be achieved by your critical reasoning skills and knowledge of evidence-based treatment, care and support options that suit individual requirements

Duties

It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as an injury management specialist you will involved across:

  • Comprehensive understanding of people with chronic complex injuries (both physical and psychological) and the ongoing treatment needs within the CTP scheme.
  • Undertake ongoing reviews of medical, treatment and rehabilitation needs, that are tailored to specific client goals.
  • Provide specialist injury management advice for complex/ novel treatments that are consistent with best practice guidelines and within CTP scheme timeframes.
  • Ability to provide advice, support and mentor client advisors and other members of the team with varying degrees of experience in relation to appropriate treatment and care management and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to lead and deliver initiatives that improve segment processes and outcomes.
  • Able to proactively support and provide leave cover for team leaders at the discretion of the operations manager.
  • Encourage proactive and open communication with key stakeholders during decision making processes to achieve optimal client outcomes and quality service delivery.
  • Improve overall quality of decisions relating to treatment/ services and communication through effective coaching, quality reviews and management of disputes.
  • Identification of individual and group-based training needs and development and delivery of relevant training to staff.
  • Highly developed analytical skillset, able to interpret claims data to understand trends, identify risks and recommend appropriate claims management strategies.
  • Works in collaboration with the provider management team to conduct deep dives into services, claims or providers as identified through quarterly reporting.
  • Completion of claim management related tasks on an as needed basis
  • Report to the Injury Management community and contribute to practice and professional development initiatives

Skills & Experience

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Motor Accident Guidelines and CTP scheme.
  • Experience as an Allied health practitioner with at least 5 years of clinical experience or experience in a personal injury insurance setting.
  • Highly developed understanding of the needs and perspectives of people with chronic injury within a legislated environment.
  • Critical reasoning skills to ensure a high degree of integrity in the decision-making processes.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a health or disability discipline and/or strong practical experience in identifying, reviewing and coordinating services for people and families experiencing chronic injuries.
  • Ability to set clear expectations and engage in difficult conversations with clients and stakeholders in a clear and empathetic manner.
  • Capability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to build rapport and communicate complex information and create and nurture effective working relationships with all stakeholders including chairing case conferences.
