The Role

ASD 6 Data Centre Technical Specialist:

The ASD 6 Data Centre Technical Specialist within the Data Centre Managers team will execute and achieve stated outcomes, working in a complex technical/systems data centre facility alongside an integrated workforce. Demonstrated initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and apply workplace best practices and procedures. Undertake complex technical analysis, and implementation of Technical/ICT solutions for hardware and software installs and de-commissioning. Assist with setting work priorities and manage workflows, contributing to stakeholder engagement and responding to specified requirements to achieve stated outcomes.

ASD EL1 Data Centre Technical Specialist:

The ASD EL1 Data Centre Technical Specialist within the Data Centre Managers team will lead and mentor junior staff members whilst developing, executing and achieving stated outcomes, working in a complex technical/systems data centre facility alongside an integrated workforce. The EL1 one will use their initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and apply workplace best practices and procedures. Undertake complex technical analysis, and implementation of Technical/ICT solutions for hardware and software installs and de-commissioning. Set work priorities and manage workflows, contributing to stakeholder engagement and responding to specified requirements to achieve stated outcomes.

About our Team

The Enterprise Technology Division (ETD) Data Centre Managers team is responsible for the day-to-day management of ASD’s Enterprise Data Centre facilities and infrastructure.

This day-to-day management includes overseeing the entire ASD enterprise data centre environment, production of policies and documents, configuration of systems, administration of documentation and configuration of data centre infrastructure and systems.

ETD is comprised of members of diverse skills and disciplines who work together deliver the vital data centre operational capability across ASD.

Our Ideal Candidate

ASD 6

  • Accountable to contribute to the investigation, diagnosis and resolution of network problems and provide advice on preventative strategies.
  • Responsible to ensure all requests for support are dealt with and manage any outstanding problems in accordance with ASD and organisation standards, policies and procedures.
  • Use experience to design and implement network changes and maintenance routines.
  • Build and sustain effective working relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities.
  • Facilitate appropriate direction for the team by clearly communicating goals and objectives.
  • Interpret and comply with security policy and contribute to the development of standards and guidelines.
  • Investigate and help resolve network problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt and be part of a continuous improvement working environment.

ASD EL1

  • Evaluate and ensure that the delivered capability meets requirements and legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks, and implement actions.
  • Evaluate a broad range of technical activities to understand critical factors for success and engage in continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Lead complex technical activities and ensure legislative safety aspects of ASD capability are considered and incorporated into technical activities.
  • Manage technical life-cycle (TLC) workflows, system resources, prepare work area and team plans detailing measurable milestones and expected outcomes.
