Leading Government Department is looking for a Infrastructure Property Officer to join them on a 12 month contract, starting immediately.

Key accountabilities of the role:

• Interpret client briefs and develop project proposals and solutions that will achieve time, quality and financial targets and outcomes for clients, the community and government

• Provide specialist advice on legislation impacting on property acquisitions and transfers to ensure relevant compliance and delivery
• Manage and deliver projects and tasks assigned by the Senior Infrastructure Property Officer, providing financial oversight in accordance with budgets and client expectations
• Liaise with project stakeholders including local and state government agencies, valuers, solicitors and landowners in the process of achieving client expectations and project outcomes including facilitating consultant engagement

• Provide accurate, timely, high quality advice to clients, stakeholders and Government ensuring practices comply with relevant legislation, codes and standards
• Maintain and assist in developing an integrated property transaction database and knowledge base for the management and reporting of infrastructure acquisitions carried out by the team

Key Challenges of the role:

• Consistently deliver services and multiple projects within time, cost and quality parameters prioritising project tasks and multiple stakeholders, applying time management to daily activities to ensure projects progress in an organised and timely manner
• Communicating acquisition processes under the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act to landowners and clients. Negotiating with landowners and their representatives in a positive manner consistent with client expectations that are transparent and reflect probity and ethical practice
• An ability to read an interpret maps and plans generally, but specifically registered survey plans which identify lots and easements that relate to infrastructure, and an ability to read and interpret land titles, gazettals, and dealings that provide the current and historical status of tenures

Inherent requirements of the role/Essential Skills and Experience

• Well-developed knowledge and understanding of the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991, Crown Lands Act and other relevant legislation and regulations including the Native Title Act 1993 and NSW Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983
• Experience and knowledge of the requirements of Land Property Information (LPI) NSW in relation to property transactions
• Must have excellent communication skills and willing to on occasion as determined by the needs of the role to travel to regions to liaise with landowners
• A valid NSW Driver’s license
