The Sportsmen's Club is a shared facility located in the middle of a sport precinct, which serves the members of the Derby Golf Club, Netball Club, Beach Volleyball Club and Derby Tigers Football Club.

The Club is well known as the entertainment hub of Derby. We host band nights on a regular basis, trivia and bingo, art auctions and really anything management wants to bring to the town. It's fun, it's rewarding and the local community loves to come here whether it's for a tasty yet affordable dinner during the week or a dance on Friday night.

We pride ourselves on being a family friendly venue. The Club has huge potential, and with the right people behind the scenes we can have the ability to really bring the community together.

WHO ARE WE SEEKING****

We’re currently seeking an individual or couple to take on the management of the bar (and potentially the kitchen as well if you have the right skillset).

About you:

  • Must be honest, reliable, creative and dedicated to growth
  • Be able to use your initiative and have a strong business drive
  • Have great interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience (in hospitality setting desirable)
  • Approved Managers Licence is a must (or willing to obtain prior to job commencement)
  • Excellent time-management and conflict resolution skills are very important
  • You will be working for a Committee of 10 members, so being able to liaise with people is a must
  • Bookkeeping / administration experience (preferably MYOB)

About the role:

You will be responsible for all the Club's operations (open Wednesday – Sunday), this includes:

  • Managing the bar: including stock management, ordering, bar work
  • Managing staff: recruitment, training, rostering within budget
  • Event organisation: liaising, set up, organising security, clean up
  • Managing finances: cash sales, approving invoices, processing payroll
  • Organising cleaning, repairs & maintenance of facilities
  • Other duties as directed by the President

This role requires someone who’s prepared to be an all-rounder and work flexibly to suit customer demand. We require a minimum 12-month commitment.

Housing and utilities can be provided as part of the package.

OPTIONAL: we have a commercial kitchen on site, and we’re open to ideas to develop this space and the meal service with the right people.
