What we will offer:
- Permanent full-time position.
- Commencing salary of $3,245.96 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $3,895.15 gross per fortnight + superannuation.

Your new role:
This position is responsible for working as part of the People & Culture Team and is responsible for assisting in the provision of a quality Work Health and Safety Management System across Council and also providing support with return-to-work programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of Council's work health and safety systems including Work Health and Safety (WHS) Management, workers compensation, rehabilitation, risk management, workplace inspections and investigations, and health and safety audit systems, procedures and processes.
- Ensure all work health and safety systems, procedures and processes including its risk management strategies are compliant with legislative requirements.
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of Council's consultation framework and provide support and guidance to managers and supervisors on the implementation of Council's Work Health and Safety Management System at a site level to ensure compliance and that safe systems of work are being utilised.
- Assist in identifying on-site safety issues for non-conformances and work with supervisors and managers to support the development and implementation of corrective actions
- Within the officers areas of responsibility provide day to day support in relation to; attendance at toolbox talks, review SWMS and SOP's, assist in the completion of risk assessments and site inspections.
- Monitor, evaluate and recommend improvements to Council's work health and safety systems, including assisting with the coordination of Council's annual WHS Audit.
- Build positive internal relationships to actively reinforce and promote safe work practices and work in partnership with leadership and WHS representatives.
- Oversee the implementation of the Verification of Competency Program across the officers area of responsibility in partnership with the relevant leaders.
- Assist in the management of return-to-work programs to ensure best practice recovery at work and premium minimisation.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for a dedicated individual committed to safety and wellbeing in the workplace with:
- Substantial work experience in safety and/or a related field.
- Qualifications relevant to the role i.e., Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety or currently working towards.
- Class C Driver's Licence.
- General Construction Induction Training Card.
- Demonstrated capacity to build networks and relevant industry knowledge.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the legislative environment in which Council operates.
