About the Role:
SeaRoad is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to join their dynamic team. With two large RoRo vessels operating between Melbourne and Devonport, Tasmania, they offer an exciting opportunity to take charge of the engine room while enjoying a great work-life balance. You’ll work on a rotation schedule of 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off, giving you the perfect balance of time at sea and time at home.

As the Chief Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to lead your team with authority, ensure the seamless operation of the vessel’s systems, and contribute to the ongoing success of SeaRoad Shipping.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee engine room operations with professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence.
• Manage and maintain the propulsion plant, auxiliary systems, and deck machinery to the highest standards.
• Coordinate a skilled team of engineers and contractors, ensuring optimal maintenance and repairs are carried out.
• Ensure full compliance with safety, environmental, and maintenance regulations, actively engaging with the company’s Safety Management System.
• Be a key player in driving the ship’s operational success, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently.

What We’re Looking For:
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring proven leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a strong background in managing multidisciplinary teams. Your experience in managing complex operations and working alongside contractors, third-party managers, and SeaRoad management will be crucial to your success.

Key Requirements:

• Strong experience with medium-speed propulsion at senior levels.
• Current Class I CoC, AMSA medical, and Australian residency (preference for candidates based on the Australian East Coast or Tasmania).
• LNG (dual fuel medium-speed engines) experience is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
• A proactive, safety-conscious, and results-driven attitude with an eye for operational excellence.
