Finance Officer
Part-time Position – 0.6 FTE 3 days per week
Lutheran Youth of Queensland (LYQ) is a department of the Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District. LYQ is a self funded, not-for-profit and registered charity. Our role is to assist congregations and schools to share the gospel with young people across Queensland. We do this by providing rich experiential learning, training, support, resources and facilitating camps and events.
The position is situated at Luther Heights Youth Camp, Point Arkwright on the Sunshine Coast Queensland. The site is a busy guest focused 338 bed youth camp that endeavors to create defining moments for our guests as they camp with us.
The Finance Officer is an important part of our team and their work is vital to the ongoing ministry of LYQ Support Centre and Luther Heights Youth Camp (LHYC). The team at LHYC work together in a collaborative manner that requires relational connection and values-based practice. The Why, What and How statements of LYQ provide a framework for relational connection, operational decision making and daily work practices and should flow through all aspects of what we do at LHYC.
About the role:
The role has a focus in 2 specific areas for both entities:
Financial Processing - Xero
- Accounts Receivable - invoicing and receipting.
- Accounts Payable – processing supplier invoices and weekly payment runs.
- Management of ‘Accounts’ inbox / email.
- Bank reconciliations.
- Credit card reconciliations.
- End of month journals including prepayments, accruals and depreciation.
- Fixed Asset Register.
- Assist with Budget process as required.
- Assist with Audit process as required.
Payroll Processing – Employment Hero
- Fortnightly processing of payroll.
- Payroll journals & reconciliations.
- Monthly lodgment of superannuation.
- Onboarding employees.
Skills, Education and Experience:
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Verbal and written communication
- Formal accounting qualifications preferable.
- Proficiency in Xero.
- Experience in payroll, preferably with Employment Hero but not essential.
- Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles and payroll.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Well-developed organisational skills
- Demonstrates highly effective interpersonal skills including:
- Demonstrated personal integrity and ability to deal with sensitive staff, volunteer and customer information with courtesy, confidentiality, discretion, tact, diplomacy, and good judgement.
Requirements:
- Must possess a current Queensland Government issued, Working with Children Card (BlueCard).
- Must participate in and complete Lutheran Church of Australia Safe Church Training.
