About Civil Fire
Civil Fire is a medium-sized, family-owned and operated business servicing over 1,300 strata buildings across the Sydney metropolitan area. We specialise in the provision of Annual Fire Safety Statements and are proud of our strong reputation for reliability, compliance, and quality workmanship.
With a growing team of 35+ skilled professionals – including electricians, plumbers, carpenters, mechanics, and building surveyors – we pride ourselves on being a supportive employer who values every team member.
We are currently looking for another Accredited Fire Safety Assessor to join our team. Currently, we have five existing FSAs, giving you access to a huge wealth of knowledge and a supportive environment with plenty of opportunity to learn, grow, and develop your compliance expertise across more complex systems over time.
About the Role
This position is ideal for someone who is FSA-accredited and enjoys being hands-on in the field, not just working at a desk.
Most of our building portfolio consists of simple, low-rise residential buildings — typically three-storey walk-ups with basic fire safety systems — making this a great opportunity for both experienced and recently accredited FSAs to gain confidence and build skills.
Ideally, the successful applicant will be accredited in all essential fire safety measures, or at a minimum, all basic measures (e.g. smoke alarms, extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants level 1, emergency lighting, safe passage etc.).
You’ll need a sound working knowledge of compliance requirements under the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and Australian Standards for a range of essential fire safety measures, including:
- Smoke alarms and emergency lighting
- Fire detection systems and panels
- Fire doors and passive fire measures
- Fire extinguishers and hose reels
- Hydrant and sprinkler systems
- Diesel and electric fire pumpsets
We use Uptick, and we have well-established procedures to ensure your inspections and reporting are streamlined. You’ll also be supported by a dedicated admin team who help manage scheduling, documentation, and client communications—so you can focus on getting the job done.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, and maintain fire protection systems on-site
- Record compliance findings in line with AFSS requirements
- Identify defects and make recommendations
- Communicate with strata managers, building representatives, and internal teams
- Assist with quoting or pricing of remedial works when required
- Maintain high-quality customer service and documentation
What We Offer
- Full-time position: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm
- Hydbrid work model available (WFH opportunities)
- Excellent hourly rate + paid overtime
- Company vehicle or weekly car allowance
- RDOs, annual leave, sick leave
- Annual bonus potential.
- Supportive team culture with training and growth opportunities
Requirements
- Current Fire Safety Assessor (FSA) accreditation
- Working knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards
- Fire protection industry experience (preferred)
- NSW Driver’s Licence and White Card (or equivalent)
- Reliable, well-presented, and great communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and in a team
Join a business that values integrity, teamwork, and doing the job right.
If you’re an accredited FSA, we’d love to hear from you.
