About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development, and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.

The IUIH Mental Health Hubs aim to provide a culturally safe mental health services with a strong lived experience voice. The service embeds Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander concepts of social and emotional wellbeing, mental health and healing to provide wholistic and wraparound supports to Mob presenting with moderate to severe mental health needs. Service delivery is led by the lived experience and peer workforce with clinical input and oversight provided as required. The multidisciplinary care team provides psychosocial supports, comprehensive assessment, treatment and assertive outreach support to clients aged 15 and above. The Staying Deadly Hub is an extension of the IUIH comprehensive model of care and works closely with stakeholder services to provide responsive care to clients who may otherwise not access support or require inpatient care.

About the Role?

As a staying deadly wellbeing support worker, you will take lead from the care coordinator and multidisciplinary care team to holistically walk alongside our clients. Providing practical psychosocial supports in the following domains:

  • Promoting client independence by developing and working towards individual goals.
  • Working to remove barriers so that clients have improved access to services within the community that enhance individuals' emotional well-being.
  • Working from a client and family centred perspective with consideration given to cultural, emotional, and physical needs.
  • Working relationships with internal and external services to facilitate referral pathways and clear communication.

About You?

  • Current Blue Card
  • Current Criminal History Check (Or willing to obtain)
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (Qld)

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
