The Rockhampton Grammar School are seeking a highly motivated and creative Marketing & Communications Coordinator to join our dynamic Communications and Development team.
This position is a permanent, Full-Time position. Commencement is as soon as possible as negotiated with the successful candidate.
The Rockhampton Grammar School was founded in 1881 and is an independent co-educational day and boarding school, educating and caring for students from Prep to Year 12, as well as the Early Learning Years and is Queensland’s largest boarding school. The Rockhampton Grammar School has achieved great success in the academic, cultural, sporting and vocational fields over the past 144 years. The School has a total enrolment of over 1,500 (Prep to Year 12) students who are exposed to our broad curriculum, giving effect to our commitment of Grow in Character and Scholarship.

POSITION TITLE: Marketing & Communications Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Communications and Development
CLASSIFICATION: Permanent, Full-Time | School Officer Level 5
REPORTS TO: Director, Communications and Development
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a marketing specialist in the Communications and Development team, the role supports the School's efforts to recruit and successfully onboard students, and undertakes other marketing and communications tasks. The position is an integral part of the team working towards achieving enrolment targets and promoting the School's programmes, brand and values.
This position creates and executes marketing strategies, develops engaging content, and effectively communicates the School's offerings to potential students, current students and their families. Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Marketing Strategy Development:
- Work closely with the Registrar and key stakeholders to develop and implement marketing strategies that align with the School's enrolment goals, build the School brand and enhance the family journey from exploration to graduation;
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, competition, and recruitment opportunities;
- Develop and deliver marketing campaigns to effectively reach prospective students and their families;
Content Creation and Management:
- Create compelling and informative marketing materials, including digital content, website content, social media content, publications, and email campaigns;
- Manage and update the School's website and other channels with engaging content that showcases the School's strengths and offerings;
- Ensure all marketing materials adhere to the School's branding and messaging guidelines;
- Craft and deliver compelling, high-quality communications across various formats, including copywriting, editorial pieces, speeches, media releases, and stakeholder correspondence.
- Organise and promote school events, such as information sessions and boarding outreach events, to attract potential students;
Event Planning and Promotion:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to coordinate event logistics and ensure a positive experience for attendees.
Digital Marketing, Advertising and Publications
- Execute online marketing campaigns, including paid advertising, SEO, and social media advertising, to increase the School's online visibility and reach;
- Monitor and analyse campaign performance using web analytics and advertising platforms to optimise results;
- Ensure that onboarding information and publications are current and reflect the School’s brand.
Lead Generation:
- Develop and implement lead generation strategies to attract potential student inquiries and applications.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the admissions team to align marketing efforts with recruitment activities;
- Engage with external agencies and organisations, such as designers, photographers and vendors;
- Seek family feedback through surveys and other mechanisms to measure and improve the student journey;
- Assist the Communications and Development Officer and the Alumni Engagement Officer with activities and events as required from time to time.
Any other tasks as requested by the Headmaster and Director, Communications and Development.

REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
- Tertiary qualification or appropriate experience in marketing, communications or a related discipline;
- Previous experience in marketing and recruitment, preferably in an educational institution;
- Strong digital marketing skills, including proficiency with social media platforms, content management systems, and email marketing tools;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to a fast-paced environment;
- Passion for education and a commitment to the School's mission and values;
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety and school related legislation (desirable);
- Good planning, organisational, analytical and decision-making skills;
- Good oral and written communication skills; and
- Confidentiality, tact and discretion when dealing with people.
REQUIRED LICENCES/CERTIFICATES
- Working with Children Check;
- Safeguarding Children Online Training Certificate;
- Police Check.
SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
The School takes child protection seriously, and as a staff member or volunteer of The Rockhampton Grammar School, you are required to meet the behaviour standards outlined in our Practice and Behaviour Guidelines. You will receive a copy of these guidelines as part of the induction process.
Therefore, as a part of your duties and responsibilities, you are also required to:
- Provide a welcoming and safe environment for children and young people;
- Promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people to whom we provide services;
- Ensure that your interactions with children and young people are positive and safe;
- Provide adequate care and supervision of children and young people in your charge;
- Act as a positive role model for children and young people;
- Report any suspicions, concerns, allegations or disclosures of alleged abuse to management;
- Maintain valid “working with children” documentation;
- Undergo periodic “national criminal history record” checks;
- Report to management any criminal charges or convictions you receive during the course of your employment that may indicate a possible risk to children and young people.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The successful applicant will be subject to a “Working with Children Check and Criminal Records Check” where applicable. The School undertakes several screening processes to ensure the appropriate protection of children and young people in its care. This includes reference checks, identity checks, qualification check and professional registration checks.
