About the role
The primary role of the Senior Development Planner is to provide assessment services to development assessment applicants. In this role, you will be a frontline champion for the provision of excellent customer service to stakeholders and clients.

Reporting to the Development Planning Team Leader you will work with those both within and outside the team, to will assess, determine and advise on development applications to ensure they meet the standards of planning legislation.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Town Planning and/or significant relevant experience
  • Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Extensive experience in the assessment and determination of development applications.
  • Excellent understanding of the Environmental Planning Assessment Act and regulation, Local Government Act 1993 and other relevant legislation
  • Eligible to be a member of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA)
  • Be able to utilise, your delegated authority for correspondence, approval and refusal of applications in accordance with Council’s Policy;
  • Ability to utilise software to maximise time accuracy and consistency in advice and reporting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively convey complex information with advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Demonstrated strong organisational skills required to provide responses to all correspondence in a reasonable time period and forward memoranda to/and communication with other Departments of Council.
  • Highly customer and delivery focused.
  • Willingness to learn and provide input into organisational improvements
  • Ensure thoroughness when adhering to assessment procedures, maintaining accuracy and consistency in evaluating development projects and performance outcomes
  • Possess training and experience in the application of urban design principles

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge or Experience in Local or State Government or similar environments
  • Experience in development assessments within NSW Local Government
  • Experience in processing subdivision certificates
