The People & Culture Business Partner (P&C BP) plays a critical role in aligning the organisation’s people strategies with business objectives. Acting as a trusted advisor to managers and leaders, this full-time role ensures that workforce planning, leadership development, and employee engagement initiatives support both team effectiveness and the organisation’s long-term success.

By focusing on coaching, performance management, and culture-building, the P&C BP helps shape a high-performing, engaged, and values-driven workforce that contributes to Contour Education’s mission to reshape education, one student at a time​. This is a newly created, hybrid role and available for immediate start.

Who are we

We empower students and their studies by providing an ecosystem of highly effective tutoring, resources and support. We run weekly small-group tutoring sessions, presented by young and experienced tutors that teach in a simple, intuitive and engaging way. We also supplement these sessions with weekly workshops, complimentary 1-on-1 support and a learning portal with a comprehensive suite of resources and practice material to help students master their subjects.

What you'll do

Strategic P&C Partnership

• Partner with managers and leaders to integrate people strategies into business plans.
• Provide guidance on workforce planning, team structuring, and succession planning.
• Support leaders in aligning P&C initiatives with business goals and culture.

Leadership Coaching & Manager Support

• Advise and coach managers on leadership effectiveness, team dynamics, and performance management.
• Provide guidance on feedback conversations, conflict resolution, and talent development.
• Support managers in fostering an inclusive and high-performing team culture.

Workforce Planning & Talent Development

• Collaborate with managers to identify skills gaps, future talent needs, and career progression pathways.
• Support succession planning to build internal talent pipelines.
• Ensure career development frameworks are embedded across teams.

Performance & Engagement

• Partner with managers to drive a culture of continuous feedback and high performance.
• Support performance review processes, coaching managers on goal-setting and development plans.
• Implement engagement strategies that enhance employee motivation and retention.

P&C Policies, Compliance & Best Practices

• Act as an advisor on P&C policies, ensuring compliance and alignment with company culture.
• Provide insights on best P&C practices in line with industry trends and legal requirements.
• Support leaders in navigating employee relations matters with fairness and consistency.

Change Management & Organisational Development

• Support change initiatives by advising managers on communication and implementation strategies.
• Drive cultural initiatives that reinforce Contour’s Core Service Values and Team Values​​.
• Foster an adaptable and resilient workforce through effective change leadership.

Professional Requirements

🎓 Bachelors Degree or higher in Human Resources Management or similar.
🕒 3+ years experience in a P&C BP role in a start-up or scale-up. Suitable prior industry experience in Retail, Hospitality or Education would be highly regarded and beneficial.

• Full Academic Year Commitment (e.g. no overseas exchange trips for 8 weeks)
• Long-Term Mindset & Vision (if you're selected, we'd like you to come for the ride as we grow as a brand!)
• Years of P&C Experience for Eligibility (e.g. if you haven't done Business Partnering, it'll be hard!)
• Sign an NDA (e.g. can't distribute our resources/company info to others)
• Agree to a non-compete clause (e.g. you can't tutor student groups for others!)
• Travel to our Locations (primarily Glen Waverley or CBD)
