About Us: Steel Mission Pty Ltd is a leader in the design and construction of light gauge steel structures. We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technician to join our team and contribute to the successful delivery of our projects.
Responsibilities will include:
- Analyse civil engineering conditions based on client-provided sketches, charts, tables, design schemes, and construction drawings, providing preliminary preparation suggestions for light steel structure processing and installation.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and construction managers to design, modify, and optimize light gauge steel structures according to client needs and project specifications.
- Use design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Vertex BD) to review structural calculations and modeling, provide technical guidance for construction, and ensure adherence to design specifications.
- Test and evaluate construction materials to ensure they meet design and safety requirements, and oversee their effective use in production and on-site.
- Estimate material and labour costs, ensuring project budgets align with specifications and contract terms.
- Direct the installation of light steel structures on-site, ensuring compliance with design drawings, construction specifications, and safety standards while addressing technical issues that arise.
- Maintain communication with clients, production managers, and teams, coordinating construction progress and technical requirements to ensure smooth project completion.
- Gather and examine construction data, perform calculations, and prepare cost estimates to guarantee the project meets all specifications and budget constraints.
- Supervise on-site technical tasks, reporting problems to Construction Managers, preparing technical reports, and resolving issues during construction.
- Organize and oversee civil engineering tasks in client projects to ensure the smooth progress of subsequent light steel structure installations.
- Participate in the selection and testing of construction materials and connectors, ensuring strength and durability align with project requirements.
- Collaborate with production managers and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate materials and products are used effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in civil engineering, construction, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the construction industry, with a focus on light steel structures preferred.
- Proficiency in using design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Vertex BD) and related analysis tools.
- Strong on-site problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly to technical challenges.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to work efficiently with clients, designers, engineers, and construction teams.
- Experience in testing and evaluating materials to ensure compliance with design and safety standards.
- Ability to estimate material and labour costs accurately to support project budgeting and planning.
