Mater Human Resources is looking for a Principal Health and Safety Advisor to join the team. This is a permanent, full-time role based between our South Brisbane and Newstead campuses.
Salary range: $136,034 - $145,990 per annum plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
You will provide active and functional health and safety advice, guidance and coaching to Mater Health Services (MHS). The role is responsible for ensuring that all legislative and operational health and safety requirements are met and that the safety of our employees remains our highest priority. The position will provide high level technical expertise and support to the State Manager, Health and Safety in establishing and maintaining systems and processes associated with employee health and safety to ensure legislative compliance.
The Principal Health and Safety Advisor will lead the work health and safety team in Brisbane being responsible for the teams direct supervision and to provide support and guidance on WHS matters needing escalation.
The Principal Health and Safety Advisor will also work closely with the Injury Management team to establish and facilitate local intervention initiatives and individual case management.
About you
- Tertiary Qualification in Work Health and Safety (Desirable)
- Demonstrated experience in Work Health and Safety in a comparable role (8+ years)
- Prior experience in a healthcare environment (Desirable)
- Prior experience supervising or managing teams
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge and understanding of contemporary health and safety legislation
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills with the proven ability to analyse performance data and provide strategic advice and reports to drive systems improvement
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships by liaising and collaborating with a range of stakeholders
- High level interpersonal, consultation and written communication skills, evidenced by the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external business partners and clients
- Monitor, review and undertake complex analysis of health and safety incidents, performance reports and legislation to assist Officers to meet their Due Diligence duties and to ensure safety management system's effectiveness and maturation towards a best practice Safety Leadership Culture
