Exergy is a new Australian owned business, funded by an established company, with a goal of becoming one of Australia's best complementary medicine manufacturers. We are nearing completion of the building phase of a brand-new facility in Smeaton Grange, South-West Sydney.

The Maintenance Technician will report directly to the Production Manager and will be responsible to keep the machines and facility up and running. In the first few months, the role will be solely focused on machinery and equipment layout and installation and helping to ensure that all manufacturing and critical utility services are fully qualified in preparation for the TGA audit. In the validation phase you will help operate the machines along with the Production Manager. Post-licensing phase as we move into manufacturing, the role will become a more traditional Maintenance Technician role as described below, although you may still assist with operating. As manufacturing scales and we continue to add to our Production team, there are career growth opportunities for a motivated high achiever.

This is an on-site role in Smeaton Grange. The salary will be negotiated inside the posted range based on your experience and seniority level.

The Responsibilities
  • Assist in sourcing machinery and equipment, communicating with suppliers and external contractors;
  • Perform installation of machinery and parts as assigned and service and maintain those machines;
  • Run training on machinery operation, set up, and cleaning for others in the team;
  • Perform building maintenance repairs and services, which include plumbing, electrical, painting, welding, and other tasks;
  • Perform ongoing inspections and maintenance of building facility, compressed air system, trade wastewater system, HVAC system, and dust extraction system;
  • Maintain and control the inventory of tools and parts to avoid unnecessary downtime due to parts shortage;
  • Complete tasks associated with the Preventive Maintenance Program.
  • Promptly respond and take immediate action in the event of machinery and facility breakdown;
  • Be ready for on-call maintenance to minimise and reduce downtime and lost production;
  • Assist in overseeing work performed by external contractors.
  • Assist in project management as need.
  • Perform the sole Machine Operator role along side the Product Manager in the validation phase and TGA audit;
  • Perform a Machine Operator role in the Startup phase.
The Technical Skills and Requirements
  • able to lift item weights of up to 25kgs repetitively.
  • ability to see well (naturally or with correction);
  • ability to stand/walk for long periods;
  • ability to stoop, kneel/squat, and climb up/down ladders;
  • Able and willing to work in clean room environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (mechanical, electrical or electricity), Trade Certificate or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years maintenance experience or equivalent in pharmaceutical, complementary medicines, or food industries, mainly in the areas of manufacturing. Complementary Medicine experience preferred.
  • Current registered NSW Electrician License preferred.
  • Experience in setup and operation of manufacturing facility and equipment.
  • Experience in parts inventory control.
  • Physical requirements:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WH&S and commitment on Safety Priority.
  • Australian Permanent Resident or Citizen with the current right to work in Australia.
